The Effect of Different Doses of Chlorpropamide on the Blood Glucose and Immunoreactive Insulin in the Non - obese Adult - onset Diabetics
Lee Tae-Hee

Abstract
In an attempt to study the effect of chlorpropamide in various dosages on the blood glucose and immunoreactive insulin levels of the diabetics patients, total fifteen cases of non-obese adult-onset diabetics were selected randomly and divided into the small dose (250mg, 7 cases) and large dose(750mg, 8 cases) group. Each group was given daily oral administration for two weeks of chlorpropamide, 250mg and 750mg in doses, respectively. Followings were the results.
1. Before the start of chlorpropamide, the blood glucose were 159.4¡¾13.75 mg/100 ml at fasting and 287.1¡¾28.42 mg/100 ml after two hours of oral glucose load (pp 2 hr).
2. The blood glucose levels after chlorpropamide administration were 124.9¡¾11.0mg/100 ml at fasting and 237.6¡¾19.6 mg/100 ml at pp 2 hr in the 250mg group and 130.9¡¾19.4 mg/100 ml at fasting and 259.8¡¾125.7 mg/100 ml at pp 2 hr in the 750 mg group.
3. Before chlorpropamide treatment the blood insulin were 14.55¡¾0.77 uU/ml at fasting and 35.11¡¾ 4.02 uU/ml at pp 2 hr.
4. The blood insulin levels were, after completion of chlorpropamide treatment, 14.74¡¾1.23 uU/ml at fasting and 47.64+4.56 uU/ml at pp 2 hr in the small dose group, while in the large dose group they showed 18.45¡¾1.34 uU/ml at fasting and 41.60¡¾6.09 uU/ml at pp 2 hr.
The results of this observation seem to indicate the dose difference of chlorpropamide in the above two groups could produce no significant difference on the blood glucose and insulin levels of the diabetics.
